Hello Kevin,
Just been browsing through the kentish times, dated 29th may,
saw an article about the drama of HMS Truculent that happened
57 years ago. This started me thinking of the Affray that was lost
with all the crew on my 20th birthday 17th April 1951,
So I decided to search the net for any info on the Affray and found
your web page,
You may think the following is ironical, but My name is George
Cook, and I was in the Artillery in Gibraltar attatched to the
78 HAA reg; and was a special opps signaller.
On the 14th April I was to join HMS affray in Gibralter for a special
mission down the med, But was later transferred to the HMS
Acheron as HMS Affray was going back home because of snorkel
problems, So I may have been the last person to see those
brave lads before that terrible accident, I constantly think of those sad times.
Regards,,,,,,,,George Cook
